Zack Snyder doesn’t seem to be all that worried about AI interfereing the filmmaking world, conveying scores of novices to the fbetter. At WIRED’s The Big Interwatch event in San Francisco on Tuesday, the straightforwardor tbetter managing editor Hemal Jhaveri that “every one person has a pretty excellent movie camera on their phone and yet we don’t have—right this second, anyway—millions of awesome movies being uploaded out of peoples’ pockets.”

While Snyder says he still sometimes asks the “why” of AI filmmaking, asking what the point of using the technology would be if you equitable want to shoot footage of someone sitting in a chair in a living room, for instance, he also acunderstandledges the technology’s potential to create some sboilings more accessible. “AI doesn’t attfinish if a hoengage is on fire or if it’s on Mars or whether it’s underwater,” he tbetter Jhaveri. “All the slfinishergs that might cost a filmcreater a lot of money to shoot are, to the AI, no branch offent.”
Snyder says he’s especipartner intrigued by the idea of an AI that could understand a movie or filmcreater’s aesthetic core, enjoy if he was able to shoot an actor’s carry outance and then sync it up with a production scheduleer-created world of sets in some sort of “aesthetic bank.” If an AI could understand what he truly wants—the “motes of dust,” a backweightless, overall set schedule—rather than equitable transmit its make clearation of what it slfinisherks he’s asking, then, he slfinisherks, “the concept is pretty awesome.”

How audiences see movies could also alter, Snyder says, acunderstandledging that streamers enjoy Netflix have become an absolute juggernaut in the cinematic world. Movies and shows he’s made for the platestablish have been seen by millions more eyes than might have seen them in the theater, he declares, and even films classified as “blockbusters” have and will undoubtedly draw a bigger audience if they’re on a bigger streaming service than they would at the box office.
