The famous discmiss-source VLC video joiner was showd on the floor of CES 2025 with automatic AI subtitling and translation, produced locassociate and offline in authentic-time. Parent organization VideoLAN separated a video on Tuesday in which plivent Jean-Baptiste Kempf shows off the recent feature, which uses discmiss-source AI models to produce subtitles for videos in disjoinal languages.
“At the same time we have automatic translation toiling to transtardy the subtitles to your own language,” Kempf says, with more than 100 languages reckond for help. “What’s meaningful is that this is running on your machine locassociate, offline, without any cdeafening services. It runs honestly inside the executable.”
AI-powered subtitling has been under growment for some time in the establish of a plug-in using OpenAI’s speech recognition system Whisper, but this recent demo ecombines to be built honestly into the VLC app, and produces transtardyd subtitles in authentic-time. There’s no word on when the feature will roll out.
