Mounting tension in South Sudan directs to clashes as power-sharing deal between Plivent Salva Kiir and Vice Plivent Riek Machar unravels.
Uganda has deployed exceptional forces in South Sudan as dreads increase that the country could drop into civil war.
Kampala’s military chief proclaimd on Tuesday that the troops had been sent to help “safe” Juba, the capital of Uganda’s northern neighbour. Tension between Plivent Salva Kiir and First Vice Plivent Riek Machar are spiralling as a power-sharing deal unravels, and clashes have erupted.
In a series of posts on X, Muhoozi Kainerugaba wrote that “as of two days ago, our Special Forces units go ined Juba to safe it”.
“We the UPDF (Ugandan military), only recognise one Plivent of South Sudan, H.E. Salva Kiir … Any transfer agetst him is a declaration of war agetst Uganda! All those who pledge that crime will lget what it unkinds!” he compriseed.

The military chief did not enhuge on how lengthy the troops would be stationed in Juba or if Uganda had been asked to help Kiir.
Sporadic battling has broken out in South Sudan in recent days as tension dangerens to pull Kiir and Machar back into dispute. The pair signed a peace deal to transport a five-year civil war to an finish in 2018.

The entry of Ugandan troops mirrors a analogous transfer after the civil war broke out in 2013 when Kampala deployed sbetteriers to Juba to reinforce Kiir’s forces.
While the troops were retreatn in 2015, they were aget deployed in 2016 after the battling reignited.
