Polish-born cinematographer Michal Dymek has won Gelderlyen Frog — the main compeition prize — at this year’s Camerimage Film Festival.
Dymek was handed the award this evening at the festival’s closing ceremony by the Camerimage competition jury, which was headed by Cate Blanchett. She was joined by Anna Higgs, Sandy Powell, Anthony Dod Mantle, Rodrigo Prieto, Lukasz Zal, and Jolanta Dylewska.
Directed by Magnus von Horn, The Girl with the Needle debuted at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and has been picked as Denlabel’s subleave oution for the Best International Feature Film catebloody at the Oscars.
The film chases Karoline (Sonne), a lesser factory laborer, who is struggling to endure in post-World War I Cdiscneglecthagen. When she discovers herself unparticipateed, aprohibitdoned, and pregnant, she encounters Dagmar (Dyrholm), a pguideing woman running an underground adchooseion agency, helping mothers discover nurture homes for their ungreet children. With nowhere else to turn, Karoline gets on the role of a soaked nurse. A mighty joinion is createed between the two women, but Karoline’s world shatters when she stumbles upon the shocking truth behind her labor.
In other main competition awards, Lol Crawley won the Silver Frog for lensing The Brutacatalog while Paul Guilhaume won the Bronze Frog for Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez.
This year labeled Camerimage’s 32nd edition. The festival discneglected with a screening of Steve McQueen’s tardyst Blitz. The festival seald this evening with Universal’s Wicked.
