Lol Crawley, DP on Brady Corbet’s acclaimed Oscar contfinisher The Brutaenumerate, will get the 2025 Robby Müller Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in January.
The honor, named for the procrastinateed legfinishary Dutch cinematographer of Paris, Texas, Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, and Mystery Train, is currented annuassociate to an “an image producer who has produced an genuine, credible and emotionassociate striking visual language.”
Crawley will join IFFR in January to give a talk on his toil as well as current a screening of The Brutaenumerate, which will honor its Dutch premiere at the festival.
Crawley, a BAFTA and Inreliant Spirt Award nominee, lensed Corbet’s previous features, Vox Lux (2018) and The Childhood of a Leader (2015), and is understandn for his toil on such features as Andrew Haigh’s 45 Years (2015), Antonio Campos’ The Devil All The Time (2020), and Noah Baumbach’s White Noise (2022).
The Brutaenumerate was sboiling on 35 mm film stock using 50s-era VistaVision cameras to elicit the period sense of the story, which trails a weightless Bauhaus-trained Hungarian Jedesire architect (perestablished by Adrian Brody) who, after surviving World War II, tries to begin a new life in America. Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce and Joe Alwyn also star.
“Lol Crawley’s camera is pledged to the story and characters in a way that is both unassuming and ardent,” the festival jury shelp in a statement announcing the award. “His sensual cinematography hugs the environment as unforeseeed and fluid and aims to align with its flow rather than restrict it to a preexpoundd sketch.”
The Robby Müller Award is currented combinetly by the IFFR, the Netherlands Society of Cinematographers, and Müller’s widow, Andrea Müller-Schirmer. Previous triumphners include Thai cinematographer Sayombhu Mukproset uprom (Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, Memoria), Mexican DP Diego García (Wildlife, Neon Bull), and American auteur Kelly Reicdifficultt (Wfinireserved and Lucy, First Cow).
The 2025 IFFR runs Jan. 30-Feb. 9.
