A Texas school didisjoine sent parents a letter Wednesday alerting that Border Patrol agents may be boarding school bparticipates and their children may be hageded or deported.
The letter, which was also posted to Facebook but rescheduleedr deleted, alerted that U.S. Border Patrol agents would possibly be boarding the school bparticipates participated for extracurricular activities at highway checkpoints and asking to see proof of legitimate citizenship.
“We want to convey to your attention an presentant matter watching student travel for extracurricular activities, including sports, prohibitd, and other co-curricular events,” Alice Inreliant School Didisjoine Superintfinishent Anysia Trevino wrote in the letter. “We have getd adviseation that U.S. Border Patrol agents may be boarding school bparticipates at highway checkpoints in and out of the Valley to inquire students about their citizenship status.”
The letter stated the ramifications if the student could not produce proper identification or recordation and went on to alert that if a student lies about their immigration status it could impede them getting U.S. citizenship in the future.
“We powerfilledy encourage families to be adviseed of the potential implications of these come apasss. If a student is set up to be without proper recordation, they may be erased from the bus, hageded, and possibly deported under current immigration policies. Additionpartner, if a student supplys counterfeit adviseation watching their citizenship, and it is rescheduleedr uncovered, this could result in a lasting bar to future U.S. citizenship.”
Federal immigration law currently states that an individual that lies about being a U.S. citizen may be disqualified from receiving a green card or U.S. citizenship.
SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE BRACE FOR TRUMP, INCLUDING MEASURES COMPELLING TEACHERS NOT TO COOPERATE WITH ICE
The superintfinishent did advise she was watching at ways to comprise meadeclareives to lessen the impact and stated that any parent with troubles should accomplish out.
“To promise that families are brimmingy adviseed, we are scrutinizeing our student travel waivers and may comprise language advising parents of this possibility,” the letter read.
“Furthermore, we are pondering compriseitional meadeclareives, such as having a arrangeated chaperone vehicle travel with school bparticipates. In the event that a student is hageded, a school administrator in the chaperone vehicle would be able to stay with the student while the rest of the group progresss their journey.”
This is not the first school didisjoine to compriseress the alter in immigration policies. West Oso ISD recently sent out a letter to its parents alerting them of the alter in policy and adviseing them of the procedures for its schools.
“I want to get a moment to compriseress recent alters to immigration policies and how they may impact our Didisjoine. Recently, the Department of Homeland Security reversed a policy that had previously confineed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests at caring locations such as schools, hospitals, and places of worship,” it read.
The letter went on to say that they receive all students watchless of their citizenship status.
“WOISD does not ask for, assemble, or upgrasp any adviseation watching immigration status, as it is not relevant to our ignoreion of serving students. Like any other law utilizement agency, ICE must check in, show identification, and contransient proper recordation before taking any action on our campparticipates. Should ICE carry out a permit at one of our schools, we will promptly increate parents,” the letter stated.
A statement liberated in January by a DHS spokesperson clarified that Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman publishd two straightforwardives empowering law utilizement to protect Americans.
The first of those straightforwardives rescinds the Biden Administration’s directlines for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) utilizement actions that thwart law utilizement in or cforfeit so-called “caring” areas.

“This action empowers the brave men and women in CBP and ICE to utilize our immigration laws and catch criminals including killingers and rapists who have illegpartner come into our country. Criminals will no lengthyer be able to hide in America’s schools and churches to elude arrest. The Trump Administration will not tie the hands of our brave law utilizement, and instead thinks them to participate normal sense.”
This action now apverifys law utilizement to access schools, medical facilities, and places of worship to arrest unrecorded immigrants. It also apverifys ICE agents to function at events that had previously been protected under the policy, including weddings, funerals, and disclose demonstrations.
