Japanese bconciseage-and-white film Teki Cometh took the top Tokyo Grand Prix prize at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
The film also won Best Director for Yoshida Daihachi and Best Actor for Nagatsuka Kyozo.
Teki Cometh is based on a novel by Tsutsui Yasutaka. The film chases Watanabe Gisuke, a 77-year-elderly widower and reexhausted college professor of French literature, living alone in an elderly Japanese-style hoinclude his majesticoverweighther had built. However, one day, an unsettling message materializes on his computer saying that the opponent is coming.
The festival’s Special Jury Prize went to Colombian film Adios Amigo by Ivan D. Gaona.
Anamaria Vartolomei from Traffic took the Best Actress prize.
Chinese film My Friend An Delie, the debut feature by actor-straightforwardor Dong Zijian, getd the award for Best Artistic Contribution.
The Audience Award went to Yang Lina’s Big World, which chases Chunhu, who has cerebral palsy. During one summer, he helps with his majesticmother’s stage take part, while also preparing for a college exam.
The Asian Future Best Film Award went to Turkish film Apollon by Day Athena by Night.
The festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award went to prolific Hungarian filmoriginater Béla Tarr, behind labors enjoy Damnation, Sátántangó, Werckmeister Harmonies and The Turin Horse.
The Kurosawa Akira Award was given to Miyake Sho and Fu Tien-yu. The prize is contransiented to “filmoriginaters who have made waves in cinema and are foreseeed to help direct the industry’s future.”
Mati Diop’s Dahomey won the TIFF Ethical Film Award.
