Struggling DNA-testing site 23andMe to lay off 40% of its laborers


The struggling genetic testing company 23andMe says it will cut 40% of its laborforce, or 200 jobs, as it fights for survival.

The once-famous DNA-testing site will also stop labor on therapies it was broadening.

Last year, the company shelp hackers had regulated to get access to personal alertation of millions of its includers.

23andMe’s split price has descfinishen by more than 70% this year, as its co-createer and chief executive Anne Wojcicki tries to turn the business around.

The company shelp it foresees to incur one-off costs of $12m (£9.3m), including disjoinance pay, for the arrange that will result in savings of $35m.

“We are taking these difficult but vital actions as we rearrange 23andMe and cgo in on the lengthy-term success of our core user business and research partnerships,” Ms Wojcicki shelp.
