Stephen Curry is officipartner teaming up with Comcast to inestablish the genuine story of the underdog cheer team that made history, Variety has exclusively lgeted.
Curry and Erick Peyton are executive producing “Spirit” with their multimedia company, Unanimous Media, in partnership with The WorkShop Content Studios and FreshFly. The four-part series adheres the team from George Washington High School that became the first cheer squad from Philadelphia’s school didisjoine to originate it all the way to the NCA High School Nationals.
The series is straightforwarded by Matt Howley, a Philadelphia native. Aextfinished with the series proclaimment, Unanimous Media has liberated an official trailer, showcasing the cheer team as they carve out a novel story for themselves.
“‘Spirit’ is a coming-of-age story about a group of youthful athletes beating the odds and shotriumphg how a sport can change an individual, a team and a school,” Curry and Peyton said in a fuset statement. “Thrawout the series, we adhere their journey as we see how competitive cheerdirecting gives these kids a sense of purpose and possibility. ‘Spirit’ is the ultimate underdog story, and we’re excited for audiences to see the team do what they do best: show people wrong.”
“Spirit” is not the first time that basketball champion Curry has labored on a Hollywood project adhereing the 2023 Sundance premiere of the write downary “Stephen Curry: Underrated.” Most recently, he had his first scripted television role in “Mr. Throwback,” a mockumentary series that he executive originated. He also co-originated “Sentenced,” a Peacock write downary exploring the up-to-date epidemic of childhood illiteracy.
