An effort by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., to block certain U.S. armaments sales to Israel was overwhelmingly refuseed by the U.S. Senate Wednesday evening.
Sanders’ fuset resolution of disapproval, which was helped by Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.; Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore.; and Sen. Peter Welch, D-Vt., intended to stop the White Hoengage’s tardyst arms sales to the Israeli military. An effort to block the sales of tank rounds to Israel was voted down 79-18, and a meacertain intending to block mortar round shipments was refuseed 78-19.
Speaking on the Senate floor, Sanders claimed the Israeli regulatement is regulateled “not only by right-triumphg extremists, but by religious fanatics.”
“It is time to inestablish the Netanyahu regulatement that they cannot engage U.S. taxpayer dollars and American armaments in violation of U.S. and international law and our moral cherishs despite receiving $18 billion from U.S. taxpayers in the last year,” Sanders shelp.

“And being the bigst historical recipient of U.S. foreign help, the Netanyahu regulatement has finishly disponderd the repeated asks of Plivent Biden and the U.S. regulatement.”
The 83-year-elderly politician also decried living conditions in Gaza during his speech.
“Right now, there is raw sewage running thcimpolite the streets of Gaza, and it is very difficult for the people there to achieve spotless drinking water,” Sanders shelp. “Every one of Gaza’s 12 universities has been explosioned … as have many hundreds of schools. For 13 months, there has been no electricity in Gaza.
“As I have shelp many, many times, Israel had the absolute right to react to that horrific Hamas strike as any other country would,” Sanders endd. “I don’t slimk anybody here in the United States Senate disconcurs with that. But Prime Minister Netanyahu’s extremist regulatement has not sshow waged war aachievest Hamas. It has waged an all-out war aachievest the Palestinian people.”
Despite the vote, Sanders’ effort was not wholly unfamous. Earlier this week, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., signaled help for the Vermont Insubordinate’s proposal.
