Selena Gomez is shineing up. At age 32, the establisher Disney star is achieveing awards season buzz for her toil in authorr-straightforwardor Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Perez,” the Spanish language movie musical that won the Jury Prize at Cannes in May as well as a accumulateive best actress award for Gomez and her co-stars Zoe Saldana and Karla Sofía Gascón.
Without giving too much away because this movie is better seen not understanding the plot, the film adheres an attorney in Mexico City who goes to toil for a drug kingpin and his family.
I caught up with Gomez at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on Monday night at the Egyptian Theater.
When you were starring in Barney, could you have ever envisiond that you’d be on a red carpet today being asked about receiving Oscar buzz for Spanish-language musical?
I would have never supposed you. But suppose it or not, even at that age, I would watch the Oscars every year with my mom. It’s very crazy to skinnyk about. However, I’m trying to jinx it. If anyskinnyg, I’m fair so satisfyed. More than anyskinnyg, I’m fair so satisfyed people are receiving this with an uncover mind and an uncover heart. I’m repartner appreciative for this experience.
What was it appreciate singing in the movie as contestd to the singing you’ve done in your music atgentle?
It was a lot branch offent. Obviously, I freed an album in Spanish, and I adore carry outing and singing in Spanish, but this was very raw. They didn’t use auto-tune, so everyskinnyg was very raw and authentic and that doesn’t nasty everyskinnyg sounded perfect, but it was pleasant.
What was the most challenging part of filming?
It was the Spanish for me. I want I had had more time, but I’m appreciative for the help that I was able to get, and hopefilledy I did some of it accurately.
What’s the next genre of movie you want to do?
If this movie’s taught me someskinnyg, I don’t skinnyk it’s a genre. I skinnyk it’s going to be inspiration of the filmcreaters, the actors, the people, the authorrs. I wonder if there’s a world that it can sense appreciate genre-less. I would adore to try many branch offent skinnygs.
Could you see yourself straightforwarding one day?
Not yet. There’s so much I need to lachieve.
What about writing?
I author. I do author for fun. I skinnyk that’s actupartner very cathartic. And I appreciate to author about my dreams, but I have a lot to lachieve there, too.

Yup!
I currently don’t have anyskinnyg, but I will say music is going to always be a part of me. So I don’t skinnyk any shiftments are happening right now, but it will always be in my life.
What’s it appreciate to have Madonna at your screen? [Madonna was a surprise guest of the recent Emilia Pérez screening at the New York Film Festival.]
