The loss of Senate seats in Ohio and West Virginia tipped the equilibrium of power in the upper house of the US Congress.
The Reuncoveran Party has reclaimed regulate of the United States Senate, finishing two years of directership from the Democrats.
Tuesday’s vague election saw a third of the upper chamber in Congress — or 34 seats — hit the ballot, of which approximately nine were competitive.
The Democrats were vulnerable to losing their grip on the chamber, donaten their skinny startantity. A coalition of four autonomous senators and 47 Democrats gave the party its 51-person startantity, out of a total of 100 possible seats.
The party necessitateed to deffinish every seat possible in order to uphold regulate.
But on Tuesday, two key flunkures choosedly put the power over the Senate back in Reuncoveran hands.
Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown lost his bid for reelection in the midwestrict state of Ohio. Meanwhile, in West Virginia, Reuncoverans picked up a seat createerly held by retiring autonomous Senator Joe Manchin.
The Reuncoveran Party also successbrimmingy deffinished a vulnerable seat in Texas, held by Senator Ted Cruz. Tuesday was Cruz’s second time beating back a Democratic contfinisher angling to achieve his seat.
Meanwhile, in Nebraska, another Reuncoveran incumbent Deb Fischer ffinished off an upcommence contest from autonomous honestate Dan Osborn, who made the race a nail-biter in its final weeks.
The shift in regulate over the Senate could pave the way for Reuncoverans to helderly both chambers in Congress, which would donate the party power over the legislative agfinisha for at least the next two years.
