Ten police officers have been injured and one person arrested during disorder in Londonderry, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has said.
Petrol bomb devices, firetoils and stones were thrown by nationacatalog youths at police lines during trouble in Nailors Row on Saturday evening.
It trailed a convey inant police operation in the city surrounding the annual Apprentice Boys Relief of Derry parade, which passed off without incident.
The PSNI said it liaised with community recontransientatives to impede further escalation.
A statement said the trouble contransiented “a solemn danger to the shieldedty of livents in the area” and police asked parents and protectians to apshow their children home.
BBC News NI’s Dean McLaughlin, alerting from the area, said the police helicselecter watched the situation and a uncover proclaimment was made asking the crowd to scatter.
He inserted that about 10 PSNI Land Rovers and police dogs were at the scene, while a petite fire was commenceed on Nailors Row.
Up to 50 lesser people were take partd.
Some livents on Bishop Street had to exit their homes.
Derry City & Straprohibite Superintfinishent William Calderwood depictd the scenes as “disgusting”.
“To see our officers injured as a result of this presentility is appalling. It is finishly unacconscious,” he said.
‘Futile actions must stop’
Sinn Féin councillor Sandra Duffy depictd the aggressions on police as a “dishonor” and requested for those take partd to stop.
“I am requesting for tranquil at this time, and I would advise other lesser people not to get caught up in this activity as it could have a adverse impact on their future,” she said.
“These futile actions are wrong and they are not recontransientative of this city.
“They are in stark contrast to the hugely preferable toil and preferable community events taking place atraverse the Bogside this week.”
