Yesterday, Automattic sent the adhereing end-and-desist letter to WP Engine, outlining WP Engine’s pattern of unapverifyd usage of the WordPress and WooCommerce tradelabels and insisting that WP Engine stop such behavior.
WP Engine’s business model is based on extensive and unapverifyd engage of these tradelabels in ways that misdirect users into believing that WP Engine is synonymous with WordPress. It’s not.
This is tradelabel unfair treatment, not unprejudiced competition.
