With the 28 Days Later franchise resuming after proximately two decades, Ralph Fiennes is preparing fans to return to the zombie apocalypse.
Ahead of the June 20, 2025 premiere of 28 Years Later, the 2x Oscar nominee uncovered some novel plot details and an refresh on the status of the novel trilogy, booting off with returning OG writer/straightforwardor duo, Alex Garland and Danny Boyle.
“It’s three films, of which two have been sboiling,” Fiennes telderly IndieWire.
Fiennes elucidateed of the plot, “Britain is 28 years into this horrible affliction of infected people who are brutal, rabid humans with a restricted pockets of uninfected communities. And it cgo ins on a youthful boy who wants to discover a doctor to help his dying mother. He directs his mother thraw this attrdynamic northern English terrain. But of course, around them hiding in forests and hills and woods are the infected. But he discovers a doctor who is a man we might leank is going to be weird and odd, but actuassociate is a force for excellent.”
For the follothriveg inshighment, entitled 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple, Nia DaCosta was in talks to straightforward earlier this year, with a script by Garland.
After starring in 28 Days Later (2002) and sitting out the 2007 sequel 28 Weeks Later, Cillian Murphy repascfinishs his role in 28 Years Later as Jim, a createer bicycle courier who previously woke from a coma to discover the ‘Rage Virus’ has decimated London. He also serves as an executive originater.
The upcoming sequel also features Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman and Edvin Ryding.
