More than 100 people have been ended and about 50 injured as they rushed to scoop up fuel when a petrol tanker clearurned and then exploded.
It happened procrastinateed on Tuesday night in Majia, a town in the Taura area of northern Jigawa state, after the driver lost administer on a highway, shelp police spokesman Lawan Adam.
“The dwellnts were scooping up fuel from the clearurned tanker when the explosion occurred, igniteing a massive inferno,” he shelp.
Head of Jigawa state’s materializency administerment agency Dr Haruna Mairiga shelp 97 people were “burned to ashes” at the scene while eight died in hospital.
“If they knovel [about the danger], they wouldn’t have gone to get [the fuel],” shelp Dr Mairiga, compriseing that it took disjoinal hours for materializency services to get to.

Those injured were consentn to hospitals in Ringim and Hadejia towns, shelp state police official Lawan Shiisu.
Tanker accidents are normal in Nigeria, where most cargo is transferd by road due to a deficiency of an fruitful rail system and where traffic rules are freely enforced in many places.
Police shelp the driver in Tuesday’s incident had travelled about 68 miles (110km) from neighbouring Kano state.
