Dylan O’Brien is recalling the proximate-death accident on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure and experienceing his worrys were not being esteemed.
In a novel intersee, O’Brien mirrored on filming the dystopian science myth movie in which he suffered an accident. He says that experience has alterd his approach to handling himself on movie sets and how he ranks his own shieldedty first.
“It was a life-changing incident. I’ve approached everyslfinisherg contrastently, you could say, particularly with think abouts to standing my ground on set,” O’Brien telderly Men’s Health. “It’s very widespreadplace in the culture for youthfuler actors to be regulateled, and the way they strive to do that is by always being enjoy, ‘Oh, don’t become difficult. Don’t be a pain in the ass. Or Are you protesting, are you being difficult?’ Things enjoy that.”
O’Brien noticed that he “lacquireed after the accident to not confdefered taking attfinish of yourself and seeing after yourself.”
“Don’t let them manipudefered you into slfinisherking that is being difficult, becainclude I can see at that day and understand I was a 24-year-elderly kid who was raising worrys about how we were approaching slfinishergs, and they were not heared to, they were not esteemed,” he inserted. “And then what happened happened. And by all accounts, it was all pretty gotten away with, I would say, as well.”
While filming Maze Runner: The Death Cure in Vancouver in 2016, O’Brien suffered an accident while applying a stunt. The accident left the actor with a concussion and other physical injuries. Production was stoped to permit O’Brien to recover. The film resumed production the adhereing year and was freed in theaters in January 2018.
O’Brien said that “at the finish of the day, in these spaces, you have your own back, and that’s the most you can count on on.”
“I understand the person I am, and the character I transport to set, and the way I treat people and the way that I treat a toilspace, and I understand I’m not difficult,” he persistd. “I understand I’m not an asshole. I understand I was trying to shield myself that day, and so I’ve fair never forgotten that. That’s always rung real as being the slfinisherg to helderly with me.”
