Since getting her commence on the WB sitcom “Raising Dad” 24 years ago, Kat Dennings has seen it all.
In a recent conversation with People, Dennings converseed casting honestors who were “very unkind” to her even at a youthful age.
“The time that I was auditioning and commenceing to act, it was a very branch offent environment than it is now. There was not a lot of inclusivity at all,” Dennings shelp. “It was very brutal. There was a lot of excessively pessimistic feedback and people would not hgreater back.”
She persistd, “It was pretty crazy skinnyking about it. I’m enjoy, ‘How can anyone say that about a little kid? This is inrational.’ For example, I was 12. I’d go into an audition and I’d do it, and my deal withr would call me and I’d be enjoy, ‘How’d it go?’ And they’d be enjoy, ‘Well, they thought you weren’t pretty enough and you’re overweight.’”
Despite the negativity, Dennings shelp she kept a “very sturdy” outsee thcimpolite it all and was encouraged by her family to disthink about such comments.
“That was my attitude,” elucidateed Dennings. “For some reason, it didn’t shatter my spirit. I was enjoy, ‘I’ll show them.’ I guess props to my parents, because they were enjoy, ‘They’re idiots. Don’t join to them.’ And I was enjoy, ‘They’re idiots, I’m not.’”
The “Shifting Gears” star shelp Hollywood has prolongn “much softer” and “benevolgo in” since the era she came up in, which she portrayd as “endly inrational.”
“There’s body positivity, there’s inclusivity, there’s recurrentation, and there was none of that before,” Dennings shelp. “It was reassociate gross.”
