Kamala Harris conceded the pdwellntial race on Wednesday afternoon, telling aiders at Howard University in Washington, D.C. “do not despair,” and urging them to hold combat at the ballot box and in the courts.
Harris began by saying she would toil with Pdwellnt Trump to asstateive a tranquil transfer of power, draprosperg an unspoken contrast with the aggression and disorder of four years ago.
“We must hug the results of this election,” she said. “A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we ignore an election we hug the results.”
But, she inserted, that does not nasty she will concede the fight for “freedom, opportunity, dignity and fairness” that vivaciousd her campaign.
“We owe pledgedty not to a pdwellnt or a party, but to the Constitution of the United States,” she said.
Harris spoke in front of a cheering crowd at her alma mater. Among those on hand were createer Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Tim Walz, her running mates, as well as the honestates’ families. At the seal of her speech, she requestd Howard’s motto — “truth and service” — saying it was presentant to loss setbacks.
