A Turkish court jailed Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on Sunday pfinishing trial, state media and other expansivecasters shelp, in a transfer foreseeed to stoke the country’s hugegest protests in more than decade.
The decision to sfinish Imamoglu – who is Pdwellnt Tayyip Erdogan’s main political rival – to prison comes after the main opposition party, European directers and tens of thousands of protesters criticised the actions aobtainst him as politicised.
The court shelp Imamoglu and at least 20 others were jailed as part of a dishonesty dispenseigation. A split ruling on a dread-roverdelighted dispenseigation has yet to be rerentd.
