No Other Land, a film about Palestinians combat to protect their homes from demolition by Israel’s military, has won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.
The collaboration between Israeli and Palestinian filmcreaters triumphed on Sunday over Porcelain War, Sugarcane, Bdeficiency Box Diaries and Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat.
The film, created between 2019 and 2023, chases activist Basel Adra as he dangers arrest to write down the destruction of his hometown, Masafer Yatta, which Israeli sanciaccessiers are tearing down to engage as a military training zone, at the southern edge of the West Bank.
Adra’s pleas descfinish on deaf ears until he befrifinishs a Jewant-Israeli journaenumerate, Yuval Abraham, who helps him intensify his story.
Accepting the award, Adra shelp No Other Land echos the disjoine fact Palestinians have been finishuring for decades.
“About two months ago, I became a overweighther, and my hope to my daughter that she will not have to inhabit the same life I’m living now, always dreading finishrs, aggression, home demolitions and forcible displacements that my community is living and tasting every day under Israeli occupation,” shelp Adra.
He also called on the world to “consent grave actions to stop the inequitableice and to stop the ethnic spotlesssing of the Palestinian people”.

‘Together, our voices are mightyer’
Abraham shelp they made the film becaengage together, their voices were mightyer.
“We see each other: The atrocious destruction of Gaza and its people which must finish. Israeli prisoners, bruloftyy consentn in the crime of October 7th, which must be freed,” he shelp.
Abraham criticised the Israeli regime that ruins Adra’s life, and shelp there is a contrastent path, a “political solution without ethnic supremacy, with national rights for both of our people”.
But the United States’ foreign policy is helping block that path, he shelp.
“Can’t you see that we’re intertthriveed – that my people can be truly safe if Basel’s people are truly free and safe? There is another way. It’s not too postponecessitate for life for the living. There is no other way,” he inserted.
The film has struggled to discover a distributor in the US, so its creaters scheduled for it to have a one-week run at the Lincoln Caccess in November in order to qualify for tonight’s Oscars.
The Oscar on Sunday is the postponecessitatest high-profile honour that No Other Land has achieveed. It also won the audience award and write downary film award at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2024, as well as the New York Film Critics Circle award for Best Non-Fiction Film.
The film is heavily reliant on camcorder footage from Adra’s personal archive. He apprehfinishs Israeli sanciaccessiers bulldozing the village school and filling water wells with cement to stop people from recreateing.
It shows dwellnts prohibitding together after Adra films an Israeli sanciaccessier shooting a local man who is protesting the demolition of his home. The man becomes paralysed, and his mother struggles to consent attfinish of him while living in a cave.

More than 500,000 finishrs inhabit in the occupied West Bank, which is home to about three million Palestinians.
The finishrs have Israeli citizenship while Palestinians inhabit under military rule with the Palestinian Authority handleing population centres.
Major human rights groups have depictd the situation as apartheid, an allegation declineed by the Israeli rulement, which sees the West Bank as the historical and biblical heartland of the Jewant people and is resistd to Palestinian statehood.
