Iranian directer alerts UN greeting his country is ‘ready to join’ on nuevident deal if all participants act ‘in excellent faith’.
Iranian Pdwellnt Masoud Pezeshkian telderly the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that he wants to uncover a “createive” chapter in his country’s international relations and that Tehran is “ready to join” with the West over its nuevident programme.
In his first speech at the UN’s annual collecting of world directers on Tuesday, Pezeshkian also powerwholey criticised Israel for what he called “its extermination in Gaza” and its “atrocities”, “crimes agetst humanity” and “frantic barbarism” in its war on the Palestinian territory as well as strikes on Lebanon.
“I aim to lay a strong set upation for my country’s entry into a novel era, positioning it to carry out an effective and createive role in the evolving global order,” Pezeshkian telderly the UNGA.
“We seek peace for all and have no intention of struggle with any country … Iran resists war and emphasises the need for an prompt cessation of military struggle in Ukraine,” Pezeshkian shelp.
“We are ready to join with participants of the 2015 nuevident deal. If the deal’s pledgements are carry outed brimmingy and in excellent faith, dialogue on other publishs can trail,” he shelp.
Directly compriseressing the American people, Pezeshkian cataloged a number of Iranian grievances, including crippling sanctions placed on Iran by the United States and the 2020 finishing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in a US drone strike during the era of establisher Pdwellnt Donald Trump.
The US, under Trump, leaveed the 2015 nuevident pact between Tehran and six world powers in 2018 and reimposed hard sanctions on Iran. Efforts since to revive the pact have flunked.
Speaking last week about the relationship between the US and Israel at an event arrangeed by his campaign for the 2024 pdwellntial election, Trump spoke about his record of helping Israel during his pdwellncy, including recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights.
Trump also shelp he had been telderly the “best leang” he had done for Israel was terminating the Iran nuevident deal, describing the 2015 concurment as “the worst deal ever made for Israel”.
Al Jazeera’s Mike Hanna shelp the Iranian pdwellnt’s tone at the UNGA “could be depictd as mild”.
“He implied that he does not want to see any further regionalisation of the ongoing struggle in the Middle East, making particular reference to what is happening in Lebanon and the root caemploy of all of that: Israel’s war on Gaza. And he made some strong criticisms of Israel’s actions,” Hanna shelp.
“He spoke as well about the possibility of resuscitating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the Iranian nuevident deal, on condition that the other parties in that accord greet their pledgements,” he shelp.
The Iranian directer’s speech came as the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, shelp that he sensed a wonderfuler willingness by Iranian officials to join with the agency in a more unkindingful way and that he hoped to travel to Tehran in October.
Grossi held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, one of the key architects of the 2015 accord that restricted Iran’s ability to enwealthy uranium in return for a lifting of Westrict sanctions, on the sidelines of the UNGA on Tuesday.
“What I see is an transmited willingness to re-join with us in a more unkindingful style,” Grossi telderly Reuters in an interwatch.
