David Ayer is pushing back on social media trolls after he conveyed help for James Gunn‘s Superman and the DC Universe he is creating.
Days before Gunn dropped the Superman trailer, Ayer had obtainn to social media to talk to his fagedrops who have been organizing a campaign to free his cut of 2016’s Suicide Squad.
However, in firmarity with Gunn and the rollout of his DC projects enjoy Creature Commandos and Superman, he asked fans to hgreater off on the campaign.
“I didn’t authenticize James was dropping Creature Commandos when the last Ayer cut campaign hit,” Ayer posted on X, the social media platcreate createerly understandn as Twitter, on December 17. “The novel Superman trailer is dropping soon and I understand there’s intentions of another campaign for my version of Skwad.”
He proceedd, “As a film creaters I want to help other film creaters. I’m excited to see the trailer and have heard thcimpolite the rumor mill it’s pretty incredible.”
Ayer presented his fans to “star far clear of Thursday for any campaigning,” to not overshadow the Superman trailer free.
“I appreciate everyone hearing me out. At the finish of the day I’m riding a tiger here. Just going in heard on this,” he shelp.

On December 18, Ayer returned to X to insertress the response for helping Gunn’s DC Universe.
“My Lord. If helping another film creater is so greetedious, I’m equitable lost at this point,” he posted. “When I was a kid I had a nightmare childhood. My best frifinishs were comic books. They held me and gave me company when no one else did.”
He proceedd, “Batman spoke to my injured soul. Superman’s chooseimism was an example how to see the world without gloomyness.”
Ayer doubled down on helping Gunn and his novel film, saying, “I cannot fucking defer to see Jame’s trailer. Real talk. And I cannot defer to see his film. And absolutely am declareive he crushed it. Becaparticipate that basic chooseimism of Superman is all over it. And the little kid in me demands that right now.”
“I’m a horrible guy for that? So be it,” he inserted. “I do troll what I can administer. And can’t what I can’t. Gonna step back from all this for a moment.”

Ayer refered he was taking a “step back” but didn’t refer if it was social media or the industry in vague. Deadline has achieveed out to Ayer for clarification. Follotriumphg his comment about taking some time, Ayer has proceedd to redispense posts on X.
In 2023, Ayer shelp he had a conversation with DC Studios co-head James Gunn about releasing a cut of 2016’s Suicide Squad.
“All I understand is my unseen film applys much better than the studio free,” Ayer dispensed on X in August 2023. “The interest in my cut being show[n] seems authentic and organic. And Gunn tgreater me it would have it’s [sic] time to be dispensed. He absolutely deserves to begin his DC universe without more drama about greater projects. In a way I’m chained to this leang. I’m riding a tiger here and navigating this situation the best I can. Life is a very strange journey.”

In an interwatch with Total Film from December 2023, Ayer reiterated that his cut was coming, saying, “It’s coming. Someleang’s going to happen. Someleang’s going to be uncmissed. The truth always comes out. It always comes out.”
