Summary

  • George Clooney will reunite with Brad Pitt in Wolfs.
  • Clooney expresses admiration for director Jon Watts and calls the project a “really good movie.” And the screening impressed its audience.
  • In addition to Clooney and Pitt, Amy Ryan and Austin Abrams will co-star in the upcoming movie; Clooney and Pitt starred together in the Ocean’s films.

It’s been over 15 years since they were instructed to Burn Before Reading. And believe it or not, The Coen brothers’ film was the last time George Clooney and Brad Pitt starred in a movie together. The two real-life friends are known for having a little fun with each other, whether it’s in the press or courtesy of their hilarious pranks. So, it comes as no surprise that Clooney slipped right back into the groove when he dished on reuniting with Pitt on-screen in an exclusive interview with Total Film magazine (per GamesRadar+):

He’s a sad, sad guy. He’s angry. He’s getting old. He’s turning 60 in a couple of weeks. It’s all downhill for him after that.

Obviously, Clooney holds Pitt in high esteem, but the actor couldn’t help but have some fun as he so often does in his interviews. Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home) will direct Clooney and Pitt in the Apple Original Films’ project. And Clooney teases “a really good movie.”

“I love this guy, Jon Watts. What a director. It’s out there. We just did a screening of it, and the place kind of went bats—t for it. So, we’re excited about it. We think it’s a really fun, dark – very dark – nutty film… It feels like an R-rated Ocean’s film.”

In addition to George Clooney and Brad Pitt starring in Apple TV+’s Wolfs — yes, Wolfs not Wolves apparently — Amy Ryan (The Office, Gone Baby Gone, Birdman) and Austin Abrams (Paper Towns, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Euphoria) will co-star in Jon Watts’ upcoming movie. While Clooney and Pitt last collaborated in The Coen brothers’ Burn Before Reading, they’re best known for starring together as the leads in the Ocean’s films.

41 years after Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the rest of the vaunted Rat Pack starred in the original Ocean’s 11 (1960), Clooney, Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts and Andy Garcia joined forces with a number of Hollywood Heavyweights in the 2001 remake, Ocean’s Eleven. The reimagining made $450.7 million worldwide and led to two sequels (Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen) and a spin-off starring Sandra Bullock: Ocean’s 8.

Barbie co-stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling will team-up once more for the highly anticipated Ocean’s Eleven prequel, and Clooney thinks Robbie and Gosling playing his parents — well, Danny Ocean’s mom and dad — “makes sense.” At the time of this writing, Wolfs is scheduled for a September 2024 theatrical release, while the script for the Ocean’s prequel is still being penned.
