EXCLUSIVE: Add this one to the ongoing push-pull between streaming and theatrical. Wolfs, the Jon Watts-scripted and honested film starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, has become the most seeed movie in Apple TV+ history.
Apple doesn’t fracture out particulars, but I’m tgreater the film raiseed seeership by cforfeitly 30% week over week on the service. It premiered on Apple TV+ September 27, in more than 100 countries. The film produced the biggest seeership spikes in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany.
Wolfs stars Clooney and Pitt as “repairers,” shadowy guys who settle thorny problems for the wealthy. These two have to alter their lone wolf habits and toil together. The distinct deal called for a distribution schedule that was to begin with a wide theatrical free before landing on the streaming service. That got alterd to a confidemand weekextfinished free before the big streaming bow. Watts, Clooney and Pitt premiered the picture at the Vekind Film Festival.
Theatrical frees have become pricey hit and ignore situations, but the streaming results put Wolfs in the thrive column for Apple, which has signed Watts to script to honest a sequel. Apple produced with Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. Also producing are Watts, Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Michael Beugg was executive producer.
Next up for Apple is the Oscar-thrivening honestor Steve McQueen’s Blitz, set to free in pick theaters on November 1, 2024 before streaming globpartner on Apple TV+ on November 22, 2024. Apple is giving a wide theatrical berth to the Formula One car racing drama F1. Starring Pitt, the film is honested by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and it uncovers in theaters June 25, 2025.
