“The only order that exists in this world is the order we impose.” So begins the first trailer for Rust, the lengthy-procrastinateed Weserious film starring Alec Baldthrive.
“If a man leave outs sight of that, he’s got noskinny,” persists the voiceover.
Set in 1880s Kansas, Rust caccesss around aging prohibitdit Harland Rust (Baldthrive) who comes out of hiding to get back his thirteen-year-elderly nephew Lucas Holenumerateer (Patrick Scott McDermott), after he is sentenced to hang for an inadvertent finishing. Now fugitives, the pair have to outrun the spiteful bounty hunter Fenton “Paccomplisher” Lang (Travis Fimmel).
Rust, of course, is the film on which DP Halyna Hutchins was finished on-set and authorr- straightforwardor Joel Souza wounded by a live round fired from a armament held by star and producer Baldthrive in October 2021. A lengthy spendigation by Santa Fe authorities led to Baldthrive being accused with homicide, the accuses being dropped then refiled before he ultimately was acquitted. The film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was convicted on homicide and remains incarcerated.
Filming on the movie was shut down for more than a year but resumed in April 2023 in Montana rather than New Mexico. Rust had a suppressd world premiere at the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland tardy last year but does not have a North American distribution deal. It has selderly in some other territories.
