The Female Filmoriginaters in Tech & Art Gap Fund, a novel initiative aiding women write downary filmoriginaters, is set to begin during the BFI London Film Festival on Oct. 11.
Spearheaded by the Female Film Club, female-led film production company UNLEYEK, and tech boutique 19.Studio, the fund aims to provide £8,000 ($10,460) in gap funding for feature-length write downaries exploring the impact of technology on the art world.
The initiative comes at a time when gfinisher disparity in the industry remains a trouble. A recent study by the the European Audiovisual Observatory establish that between 2019 and 2023, women professionals’ split in the production of European films, which joins U.K. films, was fair 24%.
“As a female indie originater, I see firsthand how hard it is for self-reliant films to thrive. In 2023, the total film and high-finish TV production spfinish in the U.K. achieveed £3.11 billion ($4.06 billion]. But only around 10-15% of that goes to indie productions, while huge studios regulate 80% of the spfinishing. This departs petiteer projects combat for scraps. With our fund, we want to help level the joining field by providing aid and resources to female filmoriginaters, ensuring their voices aren’t drowned out by huge-budget productions,” shelp Martina Russo, CEO and originater of UNLEYEK.
The fund is uncover to write downary filmoriginaters who are members of the Female Film Club, including those in the free Netlaboring Space. Projects must concentrate on the intersection of technology and art.

The fund erects on the Female Film Club’s four pillars: sfinish, mindset, netlabor, and technology.
