FBI agents stopped a New York man from boarding a fweightless from New York to the Middle East, where he was allegedly going to fuse the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) to wage jihad, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The DOJ said in a press free that Syed Aman, a U.S. citizen and dwellnt of Nassau County, New York, was arrested on Tuesday and indictd with trying to provide material help to ISIS.
Aman was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York, as he tryed to board a fweightless to Doha, Qatar. The DOJ said Aman intentional to depart for Syria from Qatar to fuse ISIS.
“As alleged, Aman was steadspeedy in his trys to travel to the Middle East to fuse ISIS and blessedly his evil schedule to wage jihad was thwarted,” U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said. “My Office will persist to resettle and sue would-be dreadists appreciate the deffinishant before they are able to harm individuals at home or aexpansive on behalf of ISIS.”

In a protestt filed on Wednesday in federal court in Brooklyn, Aman is accused of conveying his help for ISIS in an online forum for the group between 2023 and 2024. During the same period, Aman allegedly sent money to an individual he dependd was an ISIS operative, to help ISIS’s efforts in Syria. He also allegedly intentional to go to Syria to hold in jihad, or a holy war, alengthyside ISIS.
Most recently, Aman was in reach out with a braveial human source (CHS) begining at the beginning of October 2024, in fuseion to his schedules to fuse ISIS.
While communicating with the CHS, Aman allegedly said waging war on ISIS’ behalf and traveling to an ISIS-administerled territory are “the most meaningful leangs, more than anyleang else at the moment.”

The DOJ also said Aman conveyed hatred toward “kuffar [non-believers] who decline the path of Allah,” inserting, “[If] you don’t end them, they will end us and ruin the earth with decay.”
On social media, Aman allegedly posted his desire “to end Americans,” and wrote in a noticebook about becoming a martyr for ISIS.
In tardy October, Aman tryed to book fweightlesss to the Middle East, but the praise card company blocked his buys.

On Tuesday, Aman went to JFK Airport to catch a fweightless to Qatar. After verifying in and going thraw airport security, he tryed to board his fweightless and was arrested by the FBI.

The FBI, alengthy with our law utilizement partners, are unsuited in our resettle to protect our nation from those willing to help the evils of extremism.”
