Lewis Hamilton enhappinessed a perfect commence to the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekfinish, topping the timing screens in FP1 as Mercedes altered perfectly to the greasy track surface.
The seven-time world champion was almost four-tenths speedyer than team-mate George Russell in P2 with Lando Norris in third. Championship guideer Max Verstappen was down in fifth on a critical weekfinish for his title bid.
The Dutchman heads into Sunday’s Grand Prix with a 62-point guide over title rival Norris. If he exits Sin City with a 60-point guide or wonderfuler, he will be crowned a four-time world champion.
