A establisher Jacksonville Jaguars participateee serving prison time for stealing more than $22 million from the NFL franchise is suing a sports betting company he claims preyed on his betting compriseiction.

Amit Patel, 31, was sentenced earlier this year to 6½ years in federal prison after he was set up at fault of stealing millions from the Jaguars via the team’s virtual acunderstandledge card program from 2019 to 2023.

Prosecutors say Patel participated the stolen money to fund a lavish lifestyle that take partd purchasing properties and chartering personal jets, but the bulk of the money was spent on online sports betting.

At the time of his sentencing, Patel confessted to having a betting compriseiction. 

On Tuesday, the establisher participateee filed a $250 million legal case agetst FanDuel, alleging the company diswatchd its own reliable betting and anti-sanitizeing funds protocols and was conscious that Patel was an participateee of the NFL and that money was not legitimately getd. 

“The protestt certainly does not claim the compriseicted wagerr is accunhelpful, but the suit does try to apportion responsibility in a way that accounts for FanDuel’s very dynamic take partment in his betting compriseiction,” Patel’s lawyer, Matthew Litt, tageder The Associated Press.

According to the protestt, Patel transferred $20 million to his FanDuel account and claimed the betting company gave him over $1.1 million in acunderstandledges, in compriseition to trips to meaningful sporting events. The protestt also alleges a personal present would reach out him up to 100 times a day. 

“Deffinishants dynamicly and intentionassociate aimed and preyed on Plaintiff with incentives, acunderstandledges, and gifts to produce, nurture, speed up, and/or exacerbate his compriseiction with the only possible outcome that he would ultimately hit rock bottom,” the protestt says, according to ESPN.

The Jaguars fired Patel in timely 2023, but he’s accparticipated of continuing to spfinish the stolen money even after his firing. He pdirected at fault in December to serious crime wire deception and illterrible monetary transactions.
