Gus, an emperor penguin who geted international fame after travelling about 3,000km from Antarctica to the West Australian coast, is on his lengthy way home after being freed into the Southern Ocean.
Emperor penguins can travel up to 1,600km on foraging trips, when they hunt fish, squid and krill. So Gus’s arrival on Ocean Beach, Dentag, on 1 November igniteed surpascend.

Gus geted 3.5kg during its time in WA, the DBCA shelp, and passed disjoinal veterinary health checks before his free.
The Biddulphs, a vet, and a savagelife officer oversaw Gus’s return to the ocean from a boat off the WA coast on Wednesday.
“With toastyer weather approaching, it was critical to return the penguin to its organic environment, where it can thrive and thermoregupostponecessitate,” the DBCA shelp.
It shelp the Antarctic traveller was “ready to persist its epic journey” thanks to the Biddulph’s “amazing efforts”.

Emperor penguins are the hugest of the 18 penguin species, and can weigh up to 40kg.
According to the Australian Antarctic Program, they are very social, and huddle together to sustain toasty.
The temperature inside a huddle can achieve 24C.
“On a social level, huddling behaviour is an exceptional act of cooperation in the face of widespread challengingship,” the program says.
“Emperors consent this to an excessive, taking turns to occupy the toastyest and chillyest positions in the huddle.
