As temperatures ascend around the globe, laboring outdoors is becoming more dangery. In the United States, the watchdog group Public Citizen says up to 2,000 laborers are dying every year.
In September 2023, Salvador Garcia Espitia travelled to Florida to harvest sugar cane. He wanted to help his family in Mexico, especiassociate his juvenileer son who insisted medical treatment. On his first day of labor, Salvador collapsed due to heatstroke and died days procrastinateedr at the age of 26.
