The new trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One promises to make one major change to the first two A Quiet Place films and fix one major problem with recent monster movies. The footage for A Quiet Place: Day One was one of the many trailers released during Super Bowl LVIII. It provides audiences with the first glimpses of the story that will be told about alien monsters who hunt humans on earth based on the sounds that they make.

A Quiet Place: Day One is a prequel to the other two films in the franchise, and the first to be released since 2020. The cast of A Quiet Place: Day One includes Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther, Us), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), Alex Wolff (Hereditary), and Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place Part II). It tells the story of how alien monsters came to earth and began to wipe out humanity, but with one big change from the first two films.

A Quiet Place: Day One’s Trailer Proves The Monsters Will Have Much Bigger Roles

One key feature of the first two Quiet Place films is the absence of a significant number of monsters on-screen. The suspense is built around the idea of what the audience does not see, rather than what they do see. This is done to build up the idea that survivors of this infestation must live in a way that does not allow any sound to give away their position to the creatures constantly hunting humans.

A Quiet Place: Day One does not at all look like the same scenario that was presented in the first two movies where there are only a handful of monsters seen throughout both films. Based on the trailer shown at the Super Bowl, there might literally be dozens or hundreds of these Quiet Place creatures roaming through New York City and the rest of the planet. This new film looks to be highlighting how the monsters first arrived at earth and how they were able to spread before humanity realized how to avoid them.

More Monsters Is Great For A Quiet Place’s Prequel (But Bad For The Characters)

A Quiet Place's Monster

Based on the trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One, this movie promises to trade some of the suspense and drama of a family hiding from monsters for much more action and violence. The use of these alien monsters in that action can be quite helpful in elevating the action sequences, but it also means that there is an even greater chance that many of these new characters will die. It seems as the franchise pivots towards a prequel route for this film compared to the first two, the focus will be on the monsters. Specifically, the movie should provide information on what they are, why they came to earth, and a general sense of just how many of these things have taken over the planet.

The trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One shows that about a year and a half has passed since the initial invasion and the events of A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II. During this time, we know that Djimon Hounsou’s character survives as he appears as part of the cast of A Quiet Place Part II. However, with the remaining cast not present in any of the original two movies, the chances that all of them will survive the events of this new prequel film seem very small. More monsters in the franchise is a good thing for the audience, but not for the characters who will have to endure.
