Candace Cameron Bure on Christmas Movies, Great American Family Debate

Candace Cameron Bure, the Full Hoengage child star who fans now understand as the Queen of Christmas isn’t sluggishing down.

The star is famous for her role on Full Hoengage and its Netflix spinoff Fuller Hoengage, not to refer countless Christmas movies for the Halltag Channel. After moving in 2022 to the Great American Family channel, where she became an executive, Cameron Bure has progressd a constant stream of titles, including two Christmas films this year: A Christmas Less Traveled and Home Sweet Christmas.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the ever-prolific applyer talkes what she sees for in a novel holiday film, why she scrapped a project pairing her with Cameron Mathison before discovering a contrastent one with him, her arranges for a unwidespread Christmas-movie sequel, her bond with the Full Hoengage cast and her reaction to headlines about a previous intersee seeing GAF’s priorities.

When you’re deciding on a novel Christmas project, are you seeing for someleang that you haven’t yet gotten to do, or is it more about understanding what labors for your audience?

It’s a little bit of both. I read so many Christmas scripts all year lengthy. I’m seeing for someleang that experiences recent to me and will resonate with the audience. Especipartner for Great American Family channel — where we lean into faith in our movies, and our tagline for the channel is, “Christmas as it’s nastyt to be” — I’m seeing for leangs that repartner touch the heart and have more purpose to them than equitable the magic of Christmas or the Santa Claus of Christmas. As I read scripts, I usupartner can alert wilean the first 15 to 20 pages if it’s someleang that’s going to grab me or if it’s a story I’ve heard a hundred times over.

Earlier this year, you declared that you would be co-starring with Cameron Mathison in a novel Christmas movie, and then you noticed that you two would be going with a contrastent script. Are there a number of Christmas screenjoins that are typicpartner ready to go at a moment’s acunderstandledge?

Usupartner, we hope that that’s never the case, but this year, it was the case. We did have a script, Jingle Bells, Wedding Bells, that we thought would be excellent for the two of us. As we went into some of the production elements, I authenticized very speedyly that it probably wasn’t going to be the best movie that we could do. I pulled the plug on it pretty speedyly. When we reread Home Sweet Christmas, I was appreciate, “Actupartner, this is a much better movie for the two of us together,” becaengage we join these childhood frifinishs that get rejoind. That experiences very much appreciate Cameron and me, as we’ve been frifinishs for a repartner lengthy time but never labored together.

Fans were excited about the prospect of you two laboring together. Are there standardly actors appreciate that with whom you want to collaborate?

Cameron is one of those people becaengage we are staple actors in the genre. It was crazy, leanking about the fact that we hadn’t done a movie together. I don’t even understand if I’ve ever repeated a co-star becaengage I appreciate to labor with novel people, and I appreciate to convey recent faces to our channel as well. But Cameron and I actupartner paired so well together, so we are actupartner pondering doing a sequel to this movie. The fans repartner enhappinessed it.

I understand that your 2022 intersee about Great American Family spurred headlines about the channel emphasizing traditional marriage, and then procrastinateedr, your createer Full Hoengage co-star Jodie Sweetin was unsatisfyd to have her film get achieved by the netlabor. Has it felt stubborn to transmit what this netlabor cherishs if seeers aren’t understandn with its programming?

It certainly is difficult when talking to media outlets. While we are thankful for media outlets that point people to our channels, there’s still always a hazard becaengage the answers can be written out of context. That certainly happened to me when moving over to Great American Family, and it was a repartner difficult time, and to be misunderstood in that way was difficult. But what I will say, is that we are a relatively novel channel. This is only our fourth year in Christmas. Like any novel business, you have your core demoexplicit and what you’re seeing for, and you’re going to create the product that will best suit that audience. Most netlabors are not trying to be all leangs to all people. What repartner contrastentiates our channel from some of the other ones out there is that we’re not afrhelp to talk about God and God’s hand in our inhabits instead of overweighte or providence.

This has been a splitd time for our country. Is that on your mind when you’re laboring on films and potentipartner trying to join seeers?

Yeah, it’s always been the spirit of all the movies that I’ve created. God adores all of us, and so that’s the spirit in which I create everyleang.

Bob Saget’s death was such a stubborn loss. Has there been any recent talkion of conveying back a novel version of Full Hoengage?

We haven’t had any talkions of that. Fuller Hoengage was a wonderful success for Netflix, but I don’t leank there’s going to be another iteration. If they ever wanted to create it, I leank we would all be on board for it. We’re all still very seal.

You progress to be savagely prolific. What are your arranges for next year?

I’ll probably shoot another four to five movies in 2025. It’s what I adore doing.
