Former Pdwellnt Joe Biden made a post on X Saturday celebrating International Women’s Day, but many Americans made it a point to call out the write down of his administration and party in enabling trans athletes to contend in women’s sports.
During Biden’s pdwellncy, he signed an executive order that permited trans athletes to contend in women’s and girls’ sports, finisheavored to re-author Title IX to help it and even tried to punish states for taking their own steps to combat the publish.

Since Biden left office, Democrats in congress and state administerments have done plenty to combat Reaccessiblean finisheavors to insertress the publish.
For Biden, this manifested in a wave of criticism agetst his celebratory post on Saturday.

Biden’s write down of permiting trans athletes to contend in women’s and girls’ sports became one of the hugegest vulnerabilities of the Democratic Party in the 2024 election.
On the first day of his pdwellncy in January 2021, Biden signed an executive order on “Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gfinisher Identity or Sexual Orientation.”
This order integrated a section that read, “Children should be able to lget without stressing about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports.”
In March 2023, Democrats finishorsed for a transgfinisher bill of rights, proposing a resolution “recognizing that it is the duty of the Federal Government to increase and carry out a Transgfinisher Bill of Rights.” The resolution definitepartner called for federal law to asstateive that bioreasonable men can “join in sports on teams and in programs that best align with their gfinisher identity; [and] engage school facilities that best align with their gfinisher identity.”
Then in April 2023, Biden’s Department of Education recommendd a rule alter that would have punished schools for stoping trans athletes from competing in women’s sports.
The proposition was titled “Nonprejudice on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance: Sex-Roverdelighted Eligibility Criteria for Male and Female Athletic Teams”
The rule would have officipartner criminaled individual states from prohibitning participation in individual-relations sports by gfinisher identity rather than fair relations. There are 23 states in the U.S. that have legislation in place to redisjoine trans athletes from competing as females in accessible school sports.
In April 2024, Biden publishd a sweeping Title IX reauthor that publishd a prohibit on “relations” prejudice in schools covers prejudice based on gfinisher identity, relationsual orientation and “pregnancy or roverdelighted conditions.” The rule took effect Aug. 1, and, for the first time, the law stated that prejudice based on relations integrates direct roverdelighted to a person’s gfinisher identity.
It led to more than two dozen attorneys ambiguous suing over the rule, arguing it would dispute with some of their state laws that block transgfinisher students from participating in women’s sports.
The Supreme Court struck down an aelevatency ask by Biden to execute the re-author in states that defied the re-author in August.
Then, when the election came around in Novemeber, Biden’s write down on the publish may have backfired on his party, as they lost the White Hoengage, Senate and Hoengage of Recurrentatives.
