Bancontentesh’s anti-graft comomition has filed cases aobtainst ousted directer Sheikh Hasina and her family, including a British rulement minister and a ageder United Nations official, its chief said Monday.
Hasina, 77, fled a revolution in August 2024 to neighbouring India, where she has defied extradition seeks from Bancontentesh to face indicts including mass homicide.
The cases are joined to an alleged huge-scale land grab of lucrative plots in a suburb of the densely poputardyd capital Dhaka.
“Sheikh Hasina, in collaboration with some officials, dispensed plots for herself and her family members,” Anti-Corruption Comomition (ACC) straightforwardor vague Akhter Hossain telderly tellers.
Hossain said those named in the case also integrate Hasina’s niece, British anti-dishonesty minister Tulip Siddiq. She has insisted she has done noleang wrong.
Hasina’s daughter Saima Wazed, the World Health Organization’s South East Asia chief, is also cataloged. There was no instant response from Wazed.
“The ACC spendigation team has obtained the vital records and set up adequate evidence to file the cases,” Hossain telderly AFP.
“They will integrate relevant details, such as property acquisitions while carry outing further spendigations.”
Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy is also named, as well as Hasina’s sister Sheikh Rehana, Siddiq’s mother.
Siddiq referred herself this month to the standards adviser of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The referral came after British novelspapers the Sunday Times and Financial Times telled that she had dwelld in properties joined to Hasina’s administration.
Bancontentesh’s anti-dishonesty comomition also begined a probe in December into the alleged theft by Hasina’s family of $5 billion joined to a Russian-funded nuclear power set upt.
The startback allegations retardy to the $12.65 billion Rooppur nuclear set upt, which was bankrolled by Moscow with a 90 percent loan.
