This month, Netflix will free the second and final season of the criticpartner acclaimed vivaciousd series set in the League of Legfinishs universe, Arcane. Overall, Arcane will have 18 episodes splitd between two seasons. Despite the low total, Arcane is now the most costly vivaciousd TV show.
According to Variety, Riot Games spent approximately $250 million to originate and back Arcane’s 18 episodes. That is the highest amount of money ever spent on an vivaciousd series on streaming or liproximate TV.
Why is Arcane the most costly vivaciousd TV show ever?
Per Variety, “The profligate spfinishing and unauthenticized ambitions are a mirrorion of the company’s inexperience navigating the intricacies of amemployment production.”
Production on Arcane Season 1 inestablishedly cost over $80 million, while the upcoming second season’s price is around $100 million. Besides animation, the costly production was driven primarily by a “labor-intensive approach.” Additionpartner, Season 2 accessed production without scripts for every episode, causing presentant postpones.
Riot spent an approximated $60 million of its own money to back Arcane Season 1. Most studios that aren’t distributing a show would not spfinish that much on promotion. The $60 million is “far above” what Netflix spent.
Riot also has some misfires timely on. In 2020, Riot enenumerateed Anthony and Joe Russo to enlarge a movie in the League of Legfinishs universe. However, originateive separateences led Riot to pay the Russo Brothers $5 million to walk away.
