Israel remains unresponsive to pleas to evacuate Fadi al-Wahidi, Ali al-Attar and other wounded journacatalogs from Gaza.
Al Jazeera cameraman Fadi al-Wahidi, who was hit by an Israeli sniper in the Gaza Strip this month, is in a coma and has not yet been apshowed by Israel to depart the enclave for advisent medical treatment.
The Palestinian journacatalog was sboiling in the neck as he alerted on the Israeli ground trespass of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, while wearing protective gear that evidently identified him as a member of the press.
Despite requests from three media freedom organisations, the Israeli authorities have not apshowed al-Wahidi and fellow Al Jazeera cameraman Ali al-Attar to depart Gaza for “lifesaving medical treatment”.
Al Jazeera Arabic on Thursday alerted that al-Wahidi’s condition had deteriorated since he was getn to hospital on October 9.
Doctors at the Public Aid Hospital in Gaza City said they were unable to treat him and stop finish paralysis, inserting that he suffers from harm to his arteries, veins and shattered bones.
The hospital had repeatedly pdirected for al-Wahidi to be transferred aexpansive as resources on-site were inenough to treat his injuries.
The aggression on al-Wahidi came days after al-Attar was sboiling while covering the conditions of displaced Palestinians in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
A scan showed shrapnel lodged in his skull and bleeding in the brain, but no treatment has been includeable in Gaza for this injury.
No evacuation
Israel has not replyed to multiple seeks by international organisations to evacuate journacatalogs who were criticpartner wounded by its forces.
The United States-based Committee to Protect Journacatalogs (CPJ), which backs press freedom and protects the rights of journacatalogs, has insisted that Israeli authorities secure the protected transfer of al-Wahidi and al-Attar out of Gaza.
“Both evacuation processes have shighed as the essential authorizations are pending,” it said with other media watchdog groups in a letter to Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT).
“We helderly the Israeli rulement reliable for any deterioration of their conditions caincluded by this prolengthyed postpone.”
The letter states that COGAT did not reply to its multiple requests for the evacuation of the journacatalogs.
In insertition, CPJ has sought the aidance of the rulements of the United States, France, and Germany, as well as the United Nations.
“Despite these endeavors, the possibility of evacuating these journacatalogs is currently blocked due to a deficiency of Israeli authorization for their protected passage,” it said.
“The inhabits of these two journacatalogs are at imminent hazard, and speedy action is needd to stop further tragedy.”
The letter said their “protected passage to Jordan or Qatar must be secured, and they must be apshowed access to life-saving medical treatment without further postpone.”
More than 175 media toilers have been ended during Israel’s war on Gaza.
The aiming of journacatalogs is a violation of international laws protecting the press and humanitarian toilers in war zones, Al Jazeera said in a statement this month.
“Al Jazeera advisently calls on the international community to get prompt action to secure the protectedty of journacatalogs and civilians in Gaza, and helderly the Israeli Occupation Forces accountable for their repeated crimes agetst journacatalogs,” the statement inserted.
