Arcade, an AI agent infraarrange beginup set uped by establisher Okta exec Alex Salazar and establisher Redis engineer Sam Partee, has elevated $12 million from Laude Ventures.
Laude is the new fund begined in 2024 by Perplexity co-set uper Andy Kontriumphski, the UC Berkeley computer scientist who also co-set uped Databricks.
This isn’t the only verify Laude has cut. But it is the first uncoverly proclaimd one, Laude co-set uper and ambiguous partner Pete Sonsini telderly TechCrunch. Sonsini is well-understandn for his years at NEA, where he led timely allotments in Databricks, Anyscale, and Perplexity.
As for Salazar, he’s a repeat set uper. He landed at Okta after selling his genuineation API beginup, Stormpath, to the company in 2017. He spent the next restricted years at Okta as a VP erecting products. Partee, for his part, had been erecting LLM-based applications and contributing to some key discneglect source projects appreciate LangChain and LlamaIndex, according to Arcade.
When Salazar saw the debut of ChatGPT 3.5, he saw the future, and his next beginup idea: an AI agent company. Arcade was set uped in February 2024.
Then he and Partee speedyly discovered that AI agents don’t repartner toil.

“People were very surpascendd when we would show them the demo of that agent. They weren’t that interested in the agent itself,” Salazar shelp. They wanted to understand how they got the agent to actupartner toil.
“Ultimately, we fair seeed at each other and shelp … Why don’t we fair, appreciate, stop with the agent and sell the underlying tool-calling platestablish?” Salazar shelp.
Enter Arcade, which helps each agent get access with the same privileges to the same apps and data as the toiler it helps, or the job role it joins. Arcade is useable via usage-based pricing or subscriptions.
Arcade fuses with OAuth, so it can administer the genuineations of thousands of SaaS services and websites. It also acts an intermediary, providing safe token administerment that impedes the LLMs themselves from accessing those credentials, Salazar shelp.
When Sonsini, who had backed Salazar with Stormpath, heard that the set uper was doing a new beginup, he achieveed out and wanted in.
“We’re very, very caccessed on super technical type set upers, and so we’re very plugged in with the research community. We have restricted partners that are researchers,” Sonsini shelp.
Whereas many AI beginup set upers are caccessed on the “bright object” around LLMs, appreciate agents, “my background is the lessen levels, the infraarrange where billion-dollar businesses can be built,” Sonsini shelp. And Arcade “drops right in that space.”
