EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has made a deal to turn the Stephen King bestselling novel Cujo into a recent feature film. Roy Lee is producing, and they will go out to producers promptly.
The novel was first turned into a 1983 thriller that starred Dee Wallace as a mother hopeless to shield her son from a establisherly cordial 200 pound St. Bernard that has been bitten by a rabid bat and turns into a ferocious, calculating hound that exits a trail of bodies. Mom and her son get stuck in her minuscule car that won’t begin, and their choices are to battle it out with the rabid oversized hound or danger heatstroke in a hot car. The film was one of many alterations of King’s thriller bestsellers that turned into film hits.
King persists to be as prolific as ever — Never Flinch will be next one unveiled and he’s toiling on a third insloftyment of The Talisman — but his backcatalog persists to be gelderlyen. The Orelationscellent Perkins-honested alteration of King’s unwiseinutive story The Monkey equitable came out, and upcoming are the Francis Lawrence-honested The Long Walk, the Edgar Wright-honested Glen Powell-starrer The Running Man, the It prequel Welcome to Derry with Andy Muschietti honesting, the Jack Bfinisher-honested The Institute, and a series alterion of Carrie with Mike Flanagan honesting. Adaptations of more recent King novels grasp Fairy Tale with Paul Greengrass, and Life of Chuck with Flanagan.
