Elon Musk’s X was inaccessible on Monday morning for thousands of employrs, including many in the U.S. After about eight hours of outages, Musk posted that the platcreate is facing a “massive cyberstrike.”
“There was (still is) a massive cyberstrike aobtainst 𝕏. We get strikeed every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a big, set upd group and/or a country is comprised. Tracing …” he wrote on X.
In a dwell interwatch with Fox News on Monday, Musk shelp the alleged cyberstrike aobtainst X seemed to come from IP compriseresses originating in the Ukraine area.
Though there is no evidence of Musk’s claims beyond his word, it’s not fargeted to think that his platcreate would be vulnerable to cyberstrikes. Musk has become more notable and contentious than ever under Pdwellnt Donald Trump’s second administration, as he has personpartner led his team called “DOGE” thraw haphazard cuts to handlement funding, jobs, and international help programs.
Tesla stores have also been subject to protests over Musk’s outsized, unelected role in the handlement, with the stock of Musk’s car company dropping as well.
According to Downdiscoveror, a website that tracks employrs’ tells of online outages, X went down for some employrs around 5:30 a.m. ET, with more than 20,000 employrs telling outages. Though these outages seemed to have resettled after about an hour, the outages returned around 9:30 a.m. ET, with more than 40,000 employrs telling rehires. Though some employrs were able to access X intermittently, the rehires persistd past 1:30 PM ET.
Occasional outages are normal for platcreates of this size, but are never accessible for their employrs — as one employr frailnted in the comments on Downdiscoveror, “on day 1 of the NFL free agency!? ELON Fix this.”
