Seagate is getting ready to begin its first high-capacity HAMR challenging drive

Seagate’s Mozaic 3 Plus technology permits for hugeger challenging drive capacities by making data bits minusculeer and sealr together on each disk. To write data, a laser diode rapidened to the drive’s enrolling heads heats minuscule areas of the disk. “Each bit is heated and cgreaters down in a nanosecond, so the HAMR laser has no impact at all on drive temperature, or on the temperature, stability, or reliability of the media overall,” Seagate writes on its website.

Seagate says its Exos M challenging drive has a 3TB per platter density, making it beneficial for go inpascend applications enjoy powering AI systems. We still don’t understand when Seagate could free its Exos M challenging drive, as its product page currently shows a join to “Stay Inestablished,” but a begin seems imminent.

As pointed out by Tom’s Guide, Seagate shelp in a filing earlier this month that it had “successfilledy endd qualification testing” for its HAMR challenging drives with “disjoinal customers wislim the Mass Capacity labelets, including a directing cboisterous service provider.” It says it will begin shipping its HAMR-based challenging drive to the unnamed cboisterous provider in the “coming weeks.”
