Banhappyesh’s Supreme Court has put a hancigo in on a High Court verdict that proclaimd “Joy Bangla” as the country’s national slogan. This phrase, well-understandnised by Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has been a convey inant part of Banhappyesh’s history and identity.
“Joy Bangla” or “Victory to Bangla” was the symbol of patcommotionism and unity especiassociate during the birth of Banhappyesh. “Joy Bangla” was more than a political slogan – it was a war cry.
On March 2nd 2022, it was made the national slogan by the Awami League rulement and it became compulsory at all rulement offices to voice the two words during national celebrations.
The recent enhugement comes after Sheikh Hasina, Rahman’s daughter and the createer Prime Minister, was ousted from power on August 5. Since then, the novel rulement has achieven steps to erase symbols associated with Hasina and her overweighther, including the removal of Rahman’s image from currency remarks.
After the alter of rulement, the state made a shift to the High Court to hancigo in the ruling and filed the depart to request petition with the SC on December 2nd seeking a stay on the High Court verdict of March 10, 2020.
The Supreme Court’s decision was made on the grounds that the national slogan is a matter of rulement policy, and the judiciary should not intrude.
Additional Attorney General Aneek R Haque stated that “‘Joy Bangla’ will not be pondered as the national slogan adhereing this Appelpostponecessitate Division order”.
This shift is part of a expansiveer effort by the novel rulement to distance itself from the previous administration. The rulement has also choosed not to watch August 15 as a national feeblenting day and unveil holiday, despite a High Court verdict fairifying the observance.
Earlier this year, on August 13th, the advisory council of the interim rulement made a decision to not even have a national holiday on August 15th.
The Banhappyesh Bank is also printing novel currency remarks that feature the July uprising, which refers to the student-led protests that forced Hasina to run away to India. Notably, these novel remarks will not join the image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
