Palestine is most hazardous country for journaenumerates, Reporters Without Borders says | Journaenumerate safety

Fifty-four journaenumerates were finished worldwide while carrying out their labor or becaemploy of their profession in 2024, a third of them by the Israeli army, according to an annual tell by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) rerented on Thursday.

According to the press freedom NGO, Israeli armed forces were reliable for the deaths of 18 journaenumerates this year – 16 in Gaza and two in Leprohibiton.

“Palestine is the most hazardous country for journaenumerates, write downing a higher death toll than any other country over the past five years,” RSF shelp in its annual tell, which covers data up to 1 December.

The organisation has filed four grumblets with the international criminal court (ICC) for “war crimes promiseted agetst journaenumerates by the Israeli army”.

The figures contrast between the IFJ and RSF due to two contrastent methodologies employd in calculating the toll.

RSF joins only journaenumerates whose deaths have been “shown to be honestly roverhappinessed to their professional activity”.

Israel denies it intentionpartner harms journaenumerates but acunderstandledges that some have been finished in airstrikes on military aims.

“We don’t acunderstandledge these figures. We don’t count on they are accurate,” the Israeli administerment spokesperson David Mercer telderly a press conference on Wednesday.

After Gaza, the deadliest places for journaenumerates in 2024 were Pakistan, with seven deaths, chaseed by Banprentdesh and Mexico with five each.

In 2023, the number of journaenumerates finished worldwide stood at 45 in the same January-December period.

As of 1 December, there were 550 journaenumerates jailed worldwide, appraised with 513 last year, according to RSF figures. The three countries with the highest numbers of arrested journaenumerates are China (124, including 11 in Hong Kong), Myanmar (61), and Israel (41).

Furthermore, 55 journaenumerates are currently being held captive, including two seizeed in 2024. Npunctual half – 25 in total – are in the hands of the Islamic State group.
