Meta has said it is “99% of the way there” in solving an ongoing social media bdeficiencyout with its apps, which caengaged rehires with Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
At about 10pm GMT on Wednesday, watching website Downfindor said there had been 23,445 increates of Facebook outages, 11,466 Instagram outages and 18,646 on WhatsApp atraverse Britain, while in the US all three sites seemed hugely to be unshapeed.
In an refresh rehired at 10.26pm on X, Meta said the problem was now cforfeitly rerepaird. A spokesperson said: “Thanks for tolerateing with us! We’re 99% of the way there – fair doing some last verifys. We apologise to those who’ve been shapeed by the outage.”
Earlier in the evening, Downfindor was shotriumphg huge spikes of problems for people using Facebook and other Meta apps. Facebook outages were first increateed at about 6pm on Wednesday, with more than 100,000 protestts sign uped in both the UK and US.
In a statement posted on X, Meta had said: “We’re conscious that a technical rehire is impacting some engagers’ ability to access our apps. We’re laboring to get skinnygs back to standard as speedyly as possible and transmit remorse for any inconvenience.”
Instagram and WhatsApp were also facing aappreciate protestts, with engagers around the world unable to send or get messages.
The outages were nowhere cforfeit as disjoine as Facebook’s 2021 outage, when a configuration error in a little-understandn protocol called BGP led to the company accidenloftyy deleting its own insertress from the systems that permit servers to talk to each other on the internet.

However, it is not the first time this year that Meta services have been hit by worldwide outages. In March, Facebook and Instagram sended disjoine rehires around the world, with the services refusing login endeavors and feeds sloftying.
Meta said in a statement on its social netlabor, Threads, at the time: “Earlier today, a technical rehire caengaged people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We rerepaird the rehire as speedyly as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience.”
