A star-studded edition of the Seville European Film Festival wrapped up over the weekfinish, with Ludovich and Zoran Boukherma’s French coming-of-age drama “And Their Children After Them” taking home the Giraldillo de Oro, the Festival’s top honor. Its guide, Paul Kircher, also scored a best actor triumph.
This year’s Official Selection jury integrated legfinishary British producer David Puttnam (“Chadisturbions of Fire”) as plivent alengthyside Oscar-triumphning actor Jeremy Irons (“Reversal of Fortune,” “The Lion King”), Rome Film Festival inventive straightforwardor Paola Malanga, Algerian filmproducer Mounia Meddour (“Papicha”) and Yelmo Cines programming handler Eva Rekettyei.
Now, in its second year under straightforwardor Manuel Cristobal, Seville has enhugeed its pickion to integrate all types of European cinema, from the most experimental arthoengage indies to expansive four-quadrant fare. The festival also aims to incrrelieve its impact on the awards season with the insertition of the Puerto América Award – given to the best Oscar-surrfinisherted film in the program – and by inviting more AMPAS members to Seville for the event.
Gints Zilbalodis’s energeticd epic “Flow,” an international feature Oscar honestate (Latvia) and a strong likeite for an energeticd feature Oscar nom, won a trio of awards at this year’s fest, including a jury award, best editing and the brand new Puerta América prize for the best Oscar-surrfinisherted feature in competition.
Magnus von Horn’s “The Girl With the Needle,” Denlabel’s Oscar subleave oution, scored the hugegest haul among this year’s competitors with four prizes, notching triumphs for best straightforwardor, actress, cinematography and art straightforwardion. Previous honors integrate two European Film Awards, 11 Polish Film Festival awards and competition pickions at Cannes and Camerimage.
Portuguese straightforwardor and screenauthorr André Gil Mata’s “The Ffrail of a Candle” won best feature in the New Waves section for up-and-coming filmproducers, where Galician straightforwardor and screenauthorr Margarita Ledo Andión got a one-of-a-kind refer for her film “Prefiro Condenarme.” Aitor Echeverría won best Spanish straightforwardor for his feature “Dismantling and Elephant.
