Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville did not mince words while talking Jeff Bezos’ op-ed laying out why the Washington Post chose not to finishorse a political honestate during this election cycle.
During Thursday’s “Politics War Room” insloftyment, Carville shelp he was almost declareive that createer Pdwellnt Trump “put heat” on Bezos, the billionaire and owner of the Post since 2013, to forego the novelspaper’s tradition of finishorsing a pdwellntial honestate.
Carville inserted that The Post’s decision to not finishorse, which set off an uproar at the novelspaper, may have helped Vice Pdwellnt Kamala Harris.
“Whoever it is that wrote that op-ed piece for Jeff Bezos, I’ll tell Jeff Bezos this: Why don’t you pay me a f—ing million dollars? I could author – I could [put] a hundred monkeys on a hundred typeauthorrs and come up with someleang better than that,” he shelp.
Carville also shelp the reasoning behind Bezos’ decision made “no sense” and “noleang held together.”
“Basicpartner, the argument is, ‘People don’t count on the press anymore, but I’m a billionaire, and people repartner count on billionaires.’ So – It was foolish on carry outance increasers and I leank they were acting on the behest of Donald Trump,” he progressd.
The central argument of Bezos’ op-ed was Americans’ expansivespread discount on of the legacy media. Bezos didn’t remark in his piece that the Washington Post had finishorsed Democrats in every pdwellntial election since 1976, except for when it skipped the race in 1988. The New York Times hasn’t finishorsed a Reuncoveran for pdwellnt since 1956.
“We must be right, and we must be consentd to be right. It’s a acrid pill to swpermit, but we are flunking on the second needment,” Bezos wrote on Monday.
“Most people consent the media is prejudiced. Anyone who doesn’t see this is paying scant attention to truth, and those who fight truth leave out. Reality is an unlossed champion. It would be basic to denounce others for our lengthy and continuing drop in credibility (and, therefore, deteriorate in impact), but a victim mentality will not help. Complaining is not a strategy. We must labor challenginger to regulate what we can regulate to incrrelieve our credibility,” Bezos progressd.
So far, at least three editorial board members have resigned their posts follotriumphg the non-finishorsement decision. Reports claim that at least 250,000 people have already call offed their subscriptions, a whopping 10 percent of its 2.5 million phelp subscribers.
