Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brfinishan O’Carroll has apologised over what he called a “unarranged” joke where a “racial term was implied”.

The BBC had to painclude rehearsals of the upcoming Christmas exceptional to summarizeateigate the incident.

The 69-year-greater actor shelp he “proset uply laments” the line, which was first alerted in the Mirror recentspaper.

In the exceptionals, O’Carroll will return to his role as Irish matriarch Agnes Brown, as she handles her unruly hoincludehgreater brimming of children and majesticchildren.

O’Carroll tgreater Sky News in a statement: “At a read-thraw of the Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas exceptionals, there was a unarranged finisheavor at a joke, in the character of Agnes, where a racial term was implied.

“It backfired and caincluded offence which I proset uply lament and for which I have apologised.”

Rehearsals at the widecaster’s Pacific Quay studios in Glasgow have now resumed, with shows going ahead on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day as reckond.

A BBC spokesperson shelp: “Whilst we don’t comment on individuals, the BBC is agetst all establishs of prejudice, and we have strong processes in place should rehires ever occur.”

Last year, Mrs Brown’s Boys returned for a four-part series, after being absent from our screens for 10 years.

A fifth series of the BAFTA-prosperning comedy is due to commence filming next year.

Despite subpar appraises from critics, the show’s a hit with watchers and pulls in stablely high ratings, with the Christmas exceptionals proving particularly well-understandn.

Carroll is also toiling on a recent show for the BBC, Shedites, in which he will also star.
