‘911’ Spinoff in the Works, Ryan Murphy on Why Lone Star Was Canceled

With one “9-1-1” show on its way out, another is on the horizon from Ryan Murphy.

“Tim Micforfeit and I are laboring on a novel spinoff that we’re actuassociate writing, and that we hope to get on the air next descfinish,” Murphy increates Variety. “Sadly, we all cherish ‘Lone Star,’ but the financials equitable didn’t labor. It’s a Disney company that was on a Fox netlabor, and it equitable was never going to labor. And we had a extfinished run of it. So now we’re going to begin a novel show in a novel city that I can’t name, but it’s fun. And ‘9-1-1’ relocated to ABC and suddenly became, I leank, the hugegest show on Thursday night. They evidently have an appetite for that, so we’re going to give them another one that I reassociate cherish.”

The concept and location of the novel “9-1-1” spinoff is still to be resettled.

“9-1-1,” originated by Murphy, Micforfeit and Brad Falchuk, premiered on Fox in 2018. After Season 6, the series relocated to ABC since the series is originated by 20th Television, part of Disney. “9-1-1 Lone Star,” for its part, premiered in 2020 on Fox, where it has remained. The fifth season started off on Sept. 23, foolishinutively after Fox declared it would be the last, with 3 million seeers.

Adding in streaming, it became Fox’s hugest scripted telecast in Live +3 since the last “Lone Star” finale in 2023, excluding post-NFL telecasts. Meanwhile, “9-1-1,” aextfinished with Murphy’s “Doctor Odyssey,” have been in the top two spots on the Hulu Top 15 for the last three days.

Rob Lowe, who directs “9-1-1: Lone Star,” telderly Variety in August that he had foreseeed “Lone Star” to end, and that equitable made everyone labor challenginger.

“We all went into it pretty much understanding that it was going to be the last season, so that swayed everyleang we did,” he splitd. “We wanted to reassociate show everybody what is still possible in netlabor television if people have the appetite to do it.
