Winners were expansively spread atraverse genres at the 72nd annual Motion Picture Sound Editors Gelderlyen Reel Awards on Sunday, celebrating sound editing, sound portray, music editing and Foley artistry atraverse film, television and gaming. The organization awarded its top three honors — feature dialogue/ADR editing, feature effects/Foley and feature music editing — to Saturday Night, Dune: Part Two and Wicked, admireively.
In insertition to the standard categruesome recognitions, two honorary awards were also currented at the event, held at the Wilsengage Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, where comedian and actor Patton Oswalt returned as present for a third time. Kevin Costner achieved the Filmproducer Award, and supervising sound editor Greg Hedgepath, MPSE was recognized with the Career Achievement Award. Additional distinctive guests joind local firefighters who were recognized for their heroism in stoping the L.A. untamedfires.
Both Dune: Part Two and Wicked are up for the sound Oscar this year alengthened with A Complete Uncomprehendn and Emilia Pérez, which MPSE awarded in the categruesome of sound editing — feature international, and The Wild Robot, which achieved the Gelderlyen Reel Award for sound editing — feature animation. Last year, the organization awarded Oppenheimer in the categories of dialogue/ADR and Foley before it went on to prosper the Academy Award for best sound. Maestro was the 2024 recipient of MPSE’s music editing award.
